We Are Wirral: A Festival Full of Heart — and a Dream for Photographers
A New Local Favourite in Birkenhead Central Park
We Are Wirral landed in Birkenhead Central Park with warmth, colour, and community spirit — exactly the kind of event we love to shoot at Experience Photography. Set in the very park that inspired New York’s Central Park, it offered a weekend of family fun, music, food and laughter that gave the Wirral a festival it can be truly proud of.
From a photography perspective, it was a joy — natural light, expressive performances, smiling faces, and standout backdrops. If you’re planning an event like this and want coverage that doesn’t miss a moment, it helps to work with someone who knows the rhythm of live gigs and family festivals alike.
A Family-Friendly Atmosphere Built for Moments
We Are Wirral stood out as an event genuinely designed with families in mind. From unicycle performers to a life-sized Pac-Man maze (yes, really — you could dress as Pac-Man or a ghost and race around!), it was creative, inclusive and made for some brilliant candid shots.
There was plenty of space to relax — with picnic benches, shaded tents, and people bringing their own chairs, the vibe was calm, safe and easygoing. Copeland Security deserve credit for how professionally they ran the site. There was no heavy drinking, no aggression — just families, friends, and locals enjoying a well-run event. It’s the sort of environment where professional event photography thrives: relaxed people, great energy, and no worries about someone knocking over the gear.

Food, Music and Local Pride — Capturing the Culture
The food was as varied as the crowd. From Parkgate Fish and Chips and The Flying Cow, to freshly cooked paella, artisan coffee, and Chester’s own Chip’d slinging out golden, fried perfection — the catering added colour and character that looked just as good on camera as it tasted in person.
Musically, there was something for everyone. The Hoosiers delivered a brilliantly self-deprecating set, including a cover of Pink Pony Club and a running joke about ending with a long-lost B-side (Soggy Bread) before launching into Goodbye Mr A. The energy, engagement and movement made for fantastic live shots.
Woody gave an emotional, soul-packed performance. Sandi Thom reminisced about her time at Liverpool Uni before nailing a cover of The Voice. Then Newton Faulkner brought the house down with vocals and guitar work that had the crowd glued. And yes, as an experienced gig photographer, these are exactly the moments we live for — the connection between artist and audience, frozen in time.

Sunday Rain, Pixie Lott, and… Soggy Photographers
Sunday didn’t hold back. The rain came down hard, complete with thunder and lightning — but the crowd stayed put, ponchos on and smiles intact. Pixie Lott hit the stage beaming, full of energy and totally unfazed by the downpour. Then came The Feeling — a tight, slick set full of humour and musicianship.
Example closed the festival by cranking up the volume — and I mean really cranked it up. It was a high-energy, festival-worthy finish to the weekend. Unfortunately, I had to make a quick exit before the final beat dropped — my fish pie was in the oven, and the wife was about to put out an APB on me after I’d gone missing for three days. Priorities.

We Are Wirral Event Photography FAQs
We recommend booking your event photographer as early as possible, especially if your date falls on a weekend or during peak seasons like summer or Christmas. For larger public events or multi-day festivals, two to three months in advance is ideal. That gives us time to understand your schedule, walk the venue (if needed), and create a tailored shot list that matches your event goals.
At Experience Photography, we never treat photography as an afterthought. Early booking means we can discuss your requirements in detail, arrange a contract so expectations are clear, and ensure we’re ready with the right lenses, lighting and permissions for the day. It also gives you peace of mind knowing your event will be captured by someone insured, DBS-checked, and experienced.
Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible — but why leave something so important to chance? If your event is important enough to organise, it’s important enough to document professionally.

An event photographer captures the moments that matter — from key speakers and performers to candid crowd reactions, decor, atmosphere, and everything in between. Whether it’s a festival, a corporate function, or a private party, the job goes beyond pointing and shooting. It’s about storytelling.
At Experience Photography, we don’t just turn up with a camera and hope for the best. We work with you in advance to agree on a shoot list, understand your event schedule, and clarify which moments are make-or-break for your social media, marketing, or press pack. This ensures nothing is missed and the end result is a bank of professionally edited images ready for promotion or sharing.
We’re fully insured, DBS-checked, and use future-proof equipment for exceptional quality even in low-light or fast-paced environments. With a clear contract in place and flexible coverage options, you’ll know exactly what to expect — and when.
